about day 9

July 27, 2009
There was no time to waste in the Café: Mr Snu and Sir Matthew made all the pretty ladies dance and then everybody joined. Lulu Rouge was intriguing: dub, dance and some great live reworks of their wonderful albumtracks. Proud to have them on our bill!
Andy Butler from Hercules and Love Affair spinned dirty disco, house and nasty newbeat. A unique atmosphere on the floor, enjoying the new H&LA single I Can't Wait.
He started with a Bruce Springsteen edit, went to Joy Division, mixed in some dubstep and didn't forget about the techno. Trentemöller is still refusing to chose the easy way, but still manages to make it all work and happen. Some crazy live editing as well!
After that, it was X-IAN who showed us what his Pioneer machines (controlling video and audio) can do... Amazing things!

about day 8
|
|
July 26, 2009
The day with the most Michael Jackson tributes was also the day when our triangle had to take more pounding than ever. Wacko!
After standing and staring for the first minutes, the crowd decided to go with the N.A.S.A. flow. Mashing up over and over! The Goose dj's, Djedjotronic and Sound Of Stereo then set the main room on fire with their electro, rave and fidget.
Zongamin prepared the Café for Metronomy: a great performance, very well played, great songs and clever selfdesign. Topshow!
Mickey Moonlight then composed the soundtrack for all Café's scenes during the rest of night.

about day 7
|
|
July 25, 2009
A nice warm-up by Jens Holmes got the Bacardi room started. During the very spiced up house and techno set of Henrik Schwarz there was that special feeling in the room. Hapiness all over, and still there was something to come...
What was coming, were the beats, the bleeps, the melodies, the skills and the love of mister Carl Craig. It all came together and there's nothing like it. Petrol residents Fredo & Thang finished in style. With the crowd hitting on the triangle, begging for more.
Over to the Café. Now was Gaslamp Killer a sensation or what? Dubstep, hiphop, drum'n'bass, a mic and some original turntable joking with lots of curly hair involved. After that, a part of the Brussels' scene took over the stage: first the rock vs electro from MVSC and then the ... well, something like the opposite.

about day 6
|

July 24, 2009
Weird: at some moments during the night, the Warp room (Café) sounded just as much dubstep as Benga downstairs! Quite a different crowd though... Make no mistake: the Café was the room-for-one-night for the legendary Warp label, and it's 20th anniversary was celebrated in style! Pretty hard to describe what Leila, Tim Exile and Clark sounded like... Hope you just believe us when we say it was weird'n'worth it.

After a nice and rather eclectic dubstep warm up by Starkey, the Bacardi room suddenly fell the man they were heading for: Benga!
Wicked wobblin' dubstep, inventive and creative turntablism (it's all about 'basics and feelings'!), a mic to keep the crowd going and a lot of massive tunes. (heard that Skin and La Roux remix??!!) Haven't seen the room explode that hard the last few days, to be honest.

And what to say about dj Hype & Daddy Earl... Drum'n'bass and a no mercy mc: dj Hype & Daddy Earl switched the Bacardi room over to a drum'n'bass jungle!

about day 5

July 22, 2009
In the Café, Matias Aguayo did his jacking groovy boomboom thing with wonderfull deep tracks, his voice (sounds, shouts, singing), some effects and a crazy sambawhistle he was wearing around his neck. Adding extra layers and melodies to the tracks he played. Wonderful!
Einzelkind turned the Café then into a sunny (vocal) houseparty before dj T. gave away a tight quality set. Big one! Was that an INXS-edit?

Over to the Bacardi room. There was a party backstage, frontstage and on stage. People involved: the (Tief)schwarzbrothers, Ruede Hagelstein, Santé, Audiofly and even dj T.

about day 4

|
July 21, 2009
A long lasting music lolly flavoured with 2 livebands, 1 one-man-live-band, 1 one-man-party and some Great Dj's.
Miike Snow (one to watch) and Battant (retro yet on top of it) played in the Café before Optimo started their long trip with disco, grooves, dubs, edits and italo.
The Ballroom had a Belgian Booth'n'Bootie party with Stijn and One Man Party feat Love Is Fighting. Glad to witness you liked it.
After seeing a happy Jesse Rose, all eyes in the main room were on dj Hell. Well well well, Herr Hell!! Nothing but great reactions. Respect.

day 4
|
|
July 20, 2009
Day 4 is going to be a very eclectic one: Jesse Rose's unique housesound, dj Hell's techno, Miike Snow's electropop, the rock from Battant and Stijn's funk. One Man Party & Love Is Fighting go for trashmashdiscorock and absolutely no clue what Optimo will play, but that's the point exactly.
Café, Ballroom and Bacardi room are opened.

about day 3
|
|
July 20, 2009
Nathan Fake was surprising, cocky and damn good! He turned the Café into a packed and insane place. He hasn't lost a single bit of his talent and everybody who was there will confirm you he now is indeed more heading for the dancefloor. In style!
The Miss Kittin & The Hacker show seduced a lot of people. It made the climb all the way from the Bacardi room to the Ballroom more than worth it: a 100% professionnal show with several highlights was the reward.
Meanwhile in the Bacardi room, Ben Klock turned Vooruit into Berghain club before Joris Voorn started to paint sounds on the dancing people. He had a lot of paint and the crowd brought lots of canvas...

Ball room exclusively reserved for Miss Kittin & The Hacker! Ben Klock will play one extra hour in the Main room. Good news: Ben likes playing longer sets.

about day 2

July 19, 2009
Jazzanova and Paul Randolph presented great live souljazz and received massive reactions from the entire audience in return. Gilles Peterson borrowed the Peruvian headphones belonging to The Oyl Butcher. He really is worldwide!
Red D and Lady Linn delivered their warm "live voice meets housebeats". More than worth it, stick to the wax Red! Main man in the Main room was Mark Farina: pumping and pulsing from beginning to end.

about day 1
|
|
July 18, 2009
Day 1 was sold out!
The Subs set the main room on fire and tested how strong that triangle stage is.
Once again Dr Lektroluv provided the perfect dance medicine and Fanklub Dj's have never been seen happier after a set. In the Café, Slagsmalsklubben did what we were hoping for: go crazy and take everybody with them. A bit too literally: enthousiastic fans had to be kindly removed from the stage. And again. :-)
A great selection and technical skills we weren't aware of (he does crazy things with 3 decks at a time!): Riton had it all. Except for his shirt when he finished.
